McDERMOTT, JOHN W. "JACK" - John W. "Jack" McDermott, age 67, of Covington, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009, at his daughter's home. Jack was born in North Braddock, PA, on October 20, 1941, to the (late) Thomas F. and Mary G. (Metzgar) McDermott. He worked in Logistics Management for Transportation Companies, was a member of Church of the Transfiguration, West Milton and a member of the Upper Valley Transportation Club. John was preceded in death by his parents/wife, Mari (Paterson) McDermott, and brother-in-law, Walter Jordan. Jack is survived by his two sons Michael Sean and wife, Virginia Kay McDermott of Tipp City, Timothy John McDermott of Milford, OH; daughter, Kathleen Mary (McDermott) and husband, Mark Robert Goodman of West Milton; daughter-in-law, Melissa McDermott of Milford, OH; eleven grandchildren, Misty, Michael Jr., Connor, Austin, Luke, Bruce, Elizabeth Ann, John Raymond McDermott & Jacob & Gabriel Goodman; two brothers and sister-in-law, William and Patricia McDermott of Palm Harbor, FL, Ron & Julie McDermott of Monroeville, PA; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" Jordan of Zelienople, PA, Dorothy Lohner, Eileen & William Shaffer, all of North Braddock, PA; and other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 A.M. Wednesday Church of the Transfiguration, West Milton, with Fathers John MacQuarrie & James Duell officiating. Interment Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington. The family will receive friends 2-4 & 5-8 P.M. Tuesday at Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jack's memory to the following organizations: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Hospice of Miami County, and the American Cancer Society.
