ZEPERNICK, JAMES L. -James L. Zepernick, 75, of Castle Hayne, N.C., formerly of Bethel Township, Miami County died June 9, 2009 in Wilmington, N.C. He was born Dec. 10, 1933 in St. Mary's, Ohio to Alfred and Elizabeth Zepernick. He was a retired teacher and coach from 1960 to 1989 in the Dayton Public School System, an Army Veteran of the Korean War; graduate of Holy Angels High School, Sidney and a follower of the Catholic Faith; graduated from the Ohio State University. One of Jim's special achievements was coaching the Roth High School Basketball Team to the City Championship in the early 1970s. Presently he was active in senior volunteer activities in NC; and participated "competitively" in senior games in NC. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Patricia Ann Lob. Surviving are his beloved wife, Marjorie; children Victoria and Michael Cornely, West Carrollton; Richard and Barbara Zepernick and Elizabeth and Kevin Kraska, Columbus; brother Davie (Jan Wells) Zepernick, Nags Head, N.C.; 12 grandchildren, one niece and three nephews. Catholic graveside memorial services were held July 11 at Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City. Arrangements entrusted to Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home.
