HANSFORD, ARTHUR WAYNE "PETE" - Troy - Arthur Wayne "Pete" Hansford, 79, of Troy, passed away Friday, Oct. 20, at Vitas Hospice Care of Dayton. He was born in Troy on Feb. 27, 1930, to the late Arthur Wayne Hansford Sr. and Mary (Kroger) Hansford. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Phyllis Hansford; one son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Sheila Hansford of Centerville; three grandsons, Daniel Hansford USAF, Samuel Hansford and Nicholas Hansford; two sisters, Marilyn "June" Somers of Cincinnati and Barbara McCarthy of Rockport, Mass.; nieces, Carol (Somers) Smith, Kathie McCarthy; and nephew, Jim McCarthy. In addition to his parents, "Pete" was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Clark; his son, J. Scott Hansford; and grandson, David Hansford. A lifelong resident of Troy, he graduated from Troy High School in 1949. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 1044 and No. 2611, and Moose Legion No. 103. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. He worked for Braun Brothers and retired from Dinner Bell in 1966. He was a past board member of the Troy Senior Center, where he enjoyed the company of many friends. "Pete" donated his earthly remains to Wright State University. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Baird Funeral Home, Troy. Visitation will precede the memorial service at 12:30 p.m. The family requests donations in lieu of flowers to be directed to either the Troy Senior Center, 134 N.
