CARNES, GLENN O. - Piqua - Glenn O. Carnes, 87, of Piqua, died at 7:31 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. He was born Dec. 27, 1921, in Harrisburg, Ill., to the late Leslie and Clarah Alberta (Wilson) Carnes. He married Margaret L. Hetzler on July 20, 1945, in Harrisburg, Ill.; she preceded him in death on July 14, 1989. Mr. Carnes is survived by two sons, Audie (Jackie) Carnes of Piqua and Bruce (Elaine) Carnes of Piqua; a daughter, Linda (Larry) Nelson of Jonesboro, Tenn; six grandchildren; a brother, Dale (Dixie) Carnes of Greenfield, Ind. and a sister, Edith England of Piqua. Glenn was a 1940 graduate of Harrisburg High School in Illinois and served five years in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired from A. O. Smith, Tipp City, after many years as a repairman. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, with the Rev. Max Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park, Covington. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2808 Reading Road, Cincinnati, OH 34206; or to the charity of the donor's choice.
