VAN KIRK, DOROTHY ELIZABETH - Piqua - Dorothy Elizabeth Van Kirk, 85, formerly of 5920 W. U.S. Route 36, Piqua, died at 1:40 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2009, in Troy.  She was born May 7, 1923, in Champaign County, to the late William F. and Dorothy G. (Kite) Evilsizor.  She married Ralph A. Van Kirk Sr. on May 7, 1949, in Covington, Key.; and he survives at Koester Pavilion, Troy.  Other survivors include five sons, Billie Lee McCreary, Bobbie Lee McCreary, Barrie Van Kirk of Troy, Ralph Jr. (Kimberly) Van Kirk of Troy, and Sherman (Geniece) Van Kirk of Troy; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth (Esther) Evilsizor of Piqua, Gary (Eunice) Evilsizor of Troy; a sister, Peggy (Donald) Hazelwood of Christiansburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Othello "Bub" Evilsizor.  Dorothy graduated from Jackson High School in Christiansburg in 1941.  She loved to read.  She was a homemaker and had worked at Canteen and Hartzell Industries for many years.  She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Covington, where she was active with the Altar Guild and St. Paul's Society, taught Sunday School and loved singing in the choir.  She was a former member of the Pierian Club of Covington, and served as a volunteer at the former Dettmer Hospital.  A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2009, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stephen Nierman officiating.  Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park, Covington.  Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  Condolences to the family may also be expressed through www.jamiesonandyannucci.com.
