OVERBEY, CHARLIE R. - Charlie R. Overbey, 81, of Tipp City, formerly of Dayton, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born May 14, 1928 in LaFollette, Tenn. to Blane and Dicie (Moore) Overbey. Charlie was a retired truck drive of IML and Preston Trucking, a US Navy Veteran, a Past Commander and member of the VFW Post 4615, Tipp City; Sons of Legioniers 586, Tipp City; AmVets of Troy Post 88; and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, James Goney; brothers, Harrod and Floyd Overbey; and sisters, Beula White and Sylvia Wilhoit. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy A. Overbey; children, Michael and Julie Overbey, Riverside; Tammy and Fred Brackney, Bellefontaine; T. J. Watkins, Titusville, Fla.; Thomas Goney, Dayton; Donald and Darlene Goney, Dayton; daughter-in-law, Jill Goney, Dayton; step children Vickie and Steve Fine, Tipp City; Dennis and Pam Furlong, Smyma, Tenn.; 24 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Services were held May 27 at Frings & Bayliff Funeral Home with Pastor Bonita Wood officiating. Burial was in Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County in Charlie's memory.
