JACOBS, SALLIE - Sallie Jacobs, daughter of Lizzie and step-daughter of Thomas Saunders, died Jan. 4, 1880 in Staunton Tp., of consumption, aged 18 years.  Some two years ago she confessed the Savior and united with the Troy Christian Church, the spring succeeding following her Lord in Baptism.  She was a beautiful girl and her spirit and deportment were amiable and Christian.  She suffered much and long, but bore all in submissive patience.  Her faith in Jesus was unwavering, her assurance perfect and her triumph in the end glorious.  A triumphant entrance into the new life, like that experienced by this dear young lady, is a blessed compensation for any measure of Christian devotion and privation, while it fully attests the reality and divinity of our hallowed Religion.  The expectations of this promising life are not thwarted by death, but they shall have fullest answer in the life above and beyond.  Death to the good is no misfortune; it is but an enviable promotion.  "He giveth his beloved sleep."   J.
