FISHER, REBECCA DEFREES - Death of a Former Resident of South Bend - Mrs. Rebecca Defrees Fisher, mother of Mrs. Robert Miller, died at Mr. Miller's residence in Oakland, California, of pneumonia, on the 14th ult., in the 78th year of her age.  Mrs. Fisher was well known to the older residents of this place, and formerly lived on Main Street, on the lot now occupied with Mr. James Oliver's residence.  She was a sister of the late Anthony and Archibald Defrees.  In 1856 she left here for California, accompanied by her children, all of whom survive her.  She was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia, and lived in Piqua, Ohio, before moving to this place.  She was a lady of sterling qualities, and her death will be heard of with regret by her old friends here.--South Bend (Ind.) Tribune.  The deceased was the youngest sister of the father of the senior editor of this paper, and came with her parents to Shelby County when a child, and resided with them until grown to womanhood.  She had been twice married--her first husband being a brother of the late Judge Pearson of this place.  Her second, with whom she went to California, was a Minister, we believe, but of what denomination we do not know.
