RIDDLE, MRS. PATIENCE - At her residence, Miami Co., O.,
May 4th, 1880, Mrs. Patience Riddle, aged 66 years, 4 months and 21 days.
Patience Riddle was a native of Virginia, and came to Ohio in 1845. Under
the faithful preaching of Rev. D. Martin, pastor of the Union Baptist
Church, she was led to seek an interest in the Savior, and was baptized into
the fellowship of the Union Baptist Church, of which she remained an
esteemed member until her death. In 1845 she was married to Deacon Jacob
Riddle. For years Mrs. Riddle has been in poor health, but bore her
affliction with great resignation. A few days before her death she was
seized by an attack of pleurisy, which after a few days of suffering
terminated in her death on the evening of the 4th inst. Her death was
peaceful. She retained her consciousness and powers of speech until a few
minutes before her death. She gave her friends the fullest assurance that
she had the Savior with her and that she was trusting in his righteousness
for salvation. Her funeral was attended by many friends and acquaintances.
The sermon was preached on the 7th by Rev. P. M. Weddell, from Numbers
23:10. P. M. W.
