MARSHALL, MRS. KATE SNELL - In Memoriam -
On Sabbath morning, Sept. 5th, 1880, the spirit of Mrs. Kate Snell Marshall
winged its flight to heaven. Her home was in Mingo, Champaign Co., this
State, where she had endeared herself to a large circle of friends by her
genial manners and earnest piety. While visiting her girlhood home at
Addison the grim monster laid his hand upon her heartstrings and stilled the
ebbing flow of life so suddenly that her husband, mother and sisters,
waiting beside her, were shocked with a grief so keen as to call forth the
sympathies of the entire community. She was a member of the Methodist
Episcopal Church, and died in the triumph of faith. Her last testimony was,
"I shall see Jesus to-day". Thus a beautiful life went out in its 22nd
summer. But the blessed hope still abides that in a better land, in
companionship with her Savior and the dear ones gone before, she lives,
and lives forever! A. D. Raleigh.
