WERTHEIMER, JOSEPH - Troy has lost an old and respected
citizen this week. Mr. Joseph Wertheimer, a resident of the place for more
than thirty years--more than twenty of which he was a prominent and leading
business man--died Thursday evening, of paralysis, in the 68th year of his
age. As Mr. W. being an Israelite, a strict observer of all the rites,
usages and practices of his Order, his remains were taken to
Cincinnati--where he once resided and where he held a burial lot in a Jewish
Cemetery. His remains were taken down on the noon train yesterday, and the
funeral services and burial will take place tomorrow in that city. Mr.
Wertheimer was a sagacious, prudent, careful business man, and leaves his
family--widow, daughter and two sons--in good Worldly circumstances. The
children are all grown--two of them being married. The daughter resides in
Cincinnati and the sons in St. Louis.
