RONEY, REV. WILLIAM - At his residence in Chicago, on Thursday, the 12th inst., of disease of the heart, Rev. William Roney (brother of Mr. Silas Roney, of this place), in the 64th year of his age.  Mr. Roney was a highly esteemed clergyman of the Baptist denominations for thirty-four years, having graduated from the Hamilton (N. Y.) Theological Seminary in 1845, since which time he has been constanly in the ministerial work in both the East and the West, having in later years officiated as pastor at Baptist Churches in Pekin and Fulton, in this State, and Clinton, In.  Three years since, failing health compelled him to abandon active work in the cause which lay nearest his heart, since which time he has quietly lived with his family on the South Side, his acquaintanceship limited mostly to circles in the University Place and First Baptist Churches, in which he was revered and esteemed.  While not essaying nights of eloquence and a sensational style, his preaching was characterized by great conscientiousness and sincerity, and his devotion to the cause of Christ paramount to every other consideration.  He leaves wife and family of five grown up sons and one daughter, and the priceless legacy of a pure and spotless life.  The funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church this afternoon at 3 o'clock, and will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Burroughs (a former classmate of the deceased), in the absence of Dr. Lorimer, assisted by the Rev. Lewis Raymond.  The remains will be taken to Oakwoods by cars at 3 p.m. to-morrow.--Chicago Tribune, June 15.
