YOUART, SAMUEL - Death of an Octogenarian - Samuel Youart, of Staunton Township, Miami County, O., died at his late residence of congestion of the lungs, on the 22nd of April, 1878. He was a native of York Co., Pa., when he was born, November 20th, 1796. When about five years old he moved with his father to Scott Co., Kentucky, and then again to Montgomery Co., Ohio, about the year 1805. In 1814 he was married to Catharine Sheets, who preceded him to the grave over thirty years, by whom he had quite a large family of children, four of whom survive their devoted father. He also has one brother living in Dayton, and numerous relatives in Greenville, Troy and Indiana. He was a farmer in this section, having settled on Spring Creek in 1828, when his farm was in timber up to his cabin door. He was an industrious and economical man, having subdued the forest, built a saw mill, and gathered around him a competence on which to spend his declining days. Father Youart was an exemplary Christian, professing conversion and joining the Christian Church in his 18th year. He was the ready promoter of the religious interests of his neighborhood. In his house was constituted the Union Baptist Church, of which he was a consistent member. His piety was of the cheerful type, and all vice found in him a steady rebuke. His death was as tranquil and peaceful as his life had been quiet and godly. As a neighbor and friend he sustained for more than fifty years the unabated confidence and respect of the community in which he lived. His funeral was largely attended by the community on a very inclement day. The services were conducted by the writer, and in mingled sadness and joy we placed him away to await the call of that Savior he loved so well. May God comfort the dear ones he left. J. B. B.
