WASSERMAN, JOHN - On Saturday afternoon last, after an illness of a few weeks, Mr. John Wasserman, in the 59th year of his age. Mr. Wasserman had been a resident of Troy, about 30 years, and has been long regarded as one of its "solid men". He was a man of good education, and extensive reading--in fact one of the most intelligent men in the town. This gave him considerable influence and naturally made him a leader among his German fellow-citizens. He was also a very benevolent man--a liberal giver whenever appealed to in behalf of any charitable object. In this respect we and but few, if any, who excelled him. Mr. Wasserman's funeral took place Monday afternoon, and was very largely attended--not only by citizens of Troy but by many from neighboring towns, and some from Dayton, and Cincinnati. Governor Bishop, who has long known Mr. W. also sent a telegram of condolence to the family, and expressing regret that he could not be present at the funeral.
