CUMMINS, JOHN E. ESQ. - John E. Cummins, Esq., of Sidney,
well known to the people of this county, committed suicide at Denver, Colorado,
on Friday of last week. He left home the week previous under unpleasant
circumstances--having been drinking heavily for some time, which resulted in
unfortunate family dissensions--and the first heard from him was through a
dispatch from Denver announcing his death. He arrived in that city on
Monday, drank hard up to Friday, and at eleven o'clock that day shot himself in
the head with a pistol, and died some six or seven hours afterwards. The
Denver News of April 10th has a full account of the affair, but we do not deem
it necessary to copy it. It is the unfortunate end of a life that might
have been an honorable and useful one, but one that has been
recklessly--foolishly wasted.
