VAN VALKENBURG, J. S. - Death of an Editor - We sincerely regret to hear
of the sudden death of J. S. Van Valkenburg, editor and publisher of the Sidney
Democrat, which occurred on Monday morning last. We had but a slight
personal acquaintance with the deceased, and do not know his age, but presume it
was about forty years. We knew him well, however, editorially, and
although a very strong partizan, his writings proved him to have been a very
clever, genial gentleman. He was a member of the late Constitutional
Convention, and settled in Sidney immediately after the adjournment of that
body--having previously resided in Fremont. His remains were taken to the
latter place for interment.
