WITMER, JACOB - Sudden Death - Mr. Jacob Witmer died very suddenly at his residence in this place, on Thursday last. He had been engaged in sawing wood all the morning, and after eating a hearty dinner, resumed his work. Feeling very unwell he entered the house, but before anything could be done for him, he was dead. Mr. Witmer was quite an old man--68 years, and it is supposed that the extreme heat and very laborious work he had been doing were too much for him.
Second obituary - same paper- same day - Died suddenly, at his residence in this place, on Thursday, July 21st, Mr. Jacob Witmer, aged 68 years, 5 months, and 20 days. The deceased was an old and respected citizen, a valuable member of the Lutheran Church, and a humble and devoted follower of his Savior. For him to live was Christ, and to die was gain. J. J. W.
