    RICHARD H. SOTHERLAND, Jr.

    RICHARD H. SOTHERLAND, Jr., superintendent of the Troy Wagon Works, at Troy, Ohio, was born in this city on February, 13, 1872, and is a son of Richard Sotherland. The latter is court bailiff of Miami County and for years has been identified with the public affairs of both city and county.

    Richard H. Sotherland was reared at Troy and obtained his education in the schools of his native city. His first business position was a clerkship in a local grocery store and for about four years he was freight clerk for the C.H.& D. Railroad, after which he became an employee of the Troy Wagon Works Company, with which he has been connected for fifteen years, during eight of which he has been superintendent. He owns stock in the enterprise, which is one of the most prosperous at Troy.. He take s an interest in public matters and is serving his second term as a member of the Board of Public Service.

    In 1891 Mr. Sotherland was married to Miss Edith Harshbarger, of Van Wert, Ohio, and they have six children, namely: Cyril, Fay, Helen, Paul, Kenneth and Inez. Mr. Sotherland is an enthusiastic, Elk, at the present time serving in the office of exalted ruler and belonging also to the Elks Club.
