JOSEPH CAMPBELL, farmer; P. O. Piqua; was born in Virginia Jan. 19, 1811, and is a grandson of Andrew and Elizabeth (Karr) Campbell, who came to Shelby Co., Ohio, in 1835; he died about 1837 and she in 1840; they were both interred in the Sidney Cemetery ; Joseph C. Campbell is a son of William and Jane (Wynkoop) Campbell, he being born in Virginia, where he died in 1813, at the age of 26 years; she was also a native of Virginia, born about 1800, and died in 1862 ; the fruits of this union were four children, of whom one (our subject) is the only one who came to Miami. Co.; came here in 1835, and Dec. 6,1837, married Sarah J. Garhard, a native of Miami Co. ; she died Dec. 15, 1876 ; they were the parents of three children, Mary E. (born Sept. 18,-1839, and died, March 29, 1857), Laura E. (born Oct. 22, 1848, became Mrs. Coffing, and died Nov. 30, 1878), Eliza C. , born April 13, 1840, and still remains with her father, who owns 951 acres of good land in Sec.21.
