FUNK, IVAN VICTOR -
Ivan Victor Funk, 79, of Union, died
Monday, April 19, 2010 at his home. He was born Sept. 11, 1930 in New
Philadelphia, the youngest son of Aaron R. and Martha (Menges) Funk. He
managed Woolworth stores in Akron, Louisville, Ky., and Dayton. He became a
notions (yarns and crafts) buyer for Elder-Beerman Co. and taught himself
how to knit so he would know what to buy. He was a member of West Milton
Lodge 577 F and AM and was a 32nd degree Mason who played in the Shriner's
Brass Band. He married Mary (Seibert) Funk on June 4, 1950. Ivan is
survived by his wife; son, Wayne Funk of Union; daughters, Heidi Mercer of
West Milton, Kathlena and Jerry Anderson of Connecticut; grandsons, Daniel
Funk of Celina, Brian Funk, Jacob and Leslee Mercer, Nicholas, all of Ohio;
granddaughters, Michelle and Mike Lewandowski, Kimberly and Richard Loomis
of Connecticut; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Anna, Dylan, Landon, Jackson;
and brother, Aaron Funk, Jr. of New Philadelphia. He was preceded in death
by his parents and brother, Wilford. Funeral services were held April 23 at
the Hale-Sarver Funeral Home in West Milton with burial at Riverside
Cemetery. Shrine Ring service was held prior to the funeral and Masonic
services were held later that day. Memorial contributions may be made to
Shriner's Burn's Hospital.
