CARLETON, NORMA JEAN (nee: HATFIELD)
- Norma Jean Carleton,
62, of Tipp City, died with family at her side, Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, after
a valiant battle with cancer. She was born March 2, 1947 in Freeburn, Ky.,
to Lawson and Mildred (Skeens) Hatfield. She was preceded in death by her
loving husband, Jim, her sister Carolyn Hatfield and her parents. A
graduate of Edison State, she retired from Cargill in 1998 and Hobart/ITW in
2006. Norma was a Kentucky Colonel and former Relay for Life chairperson of
the Troy Strawberry Festival, longtime member and volunteer in many local
organizations. She is survived by her children Chris Hatfield of Troy,
Elizabeth and Bill Kline of Galena, Maria and Brian Jirousek of Galena and
Michael and Melissa Carleton of Columbus; grandchildren, William, Joseph and
Norah Kline and Jolene, Maura, Corrine and Ian Jirousek. Mass of Christian
burial was held Oct. 9 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tipp City.
Burial in St. John's Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Norma's name to
Heartland Hospice, 685 Delaware Ave., Marion, Ohio 43302 or the American
Cancer Society.
