HORNING, JAMES ALTON - James Alton Horning, 87 of
Davenport, Fla. died March 3, 2009 at the Heart of Florida Regional Medical
Center from heart failure. He was born March 13, 1921 in Alleghenyville,
Pa. to Paul B. and Louella (Good) Horning. He moved to Florida in 1953 and
after living in Blairsville, Ga. and Tipp City, he returned to Florida in
2003. He was a retired manager for Turner and Gee Foods, a World War II
Marine Veteran and a member of Davenport United Methodist. He is survived
by his wife of 62 years, Mildred Horning; two sons, Dean and Jean Horning,
Orlando, Fla., David Horning of Winter Garden, Fla.; daughter, Judith and
Dennis Torrey of Troy; two brothers, Harold Horning of St. Petersburg, Fla.,
Paul Horning, Jr. of Bushnell, Fla.; sister, Anna Mary Wolf of Bradenton,
Fla.; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Memorial services were
held March 7 at Davenport United Methodist Church, Davenport, Fla. In lieu
