JENKINS, RICHARD AUXTER
- Richard Auxler Jenkins, age
94 formerly ot Tipp City, died Aug. 4, 2008. He was born Dec. 4, 1913
in Tipp City to Paul Everton and Cora Belle (Auxter) Jenkins. He was a
six year residence of Asbury Retirement Community, Greencastle, Indiana
where he passed away on Monday, but his roots were in Tipp City where he
lived for most of his life. A 1932 graduate of Tippecanoe High School
and attended Miami University from 1932 to 1934. He was a retired
letter carrier and clerk with the Tipp City Post Office. After
retirement he resided in Kettering and Winter Haven, Florida. He was a
faithful member of the Tipp City United Methodist Church. Jenkins was
preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy B. (Trone) Jenkins whom he
married in 1937 and his second wife Velma (Friley) Hargis Jenkins;
infant son, Don Paul Jenkins; and brother Gilbert A. Jenkins who had
resided in Mentor. Surviving are his daughters Judith A. (Jenkins)
George, Greencastle, IN; Joann C. (Jenkins) Hubenka, Bloomfield Hills,
MI; grandson Gerald James George, Baton Rouge, LA; nephew Paul Jenkins,
Mentor; his wife Julia Jenkins, Winter Haven, FL and step niece Kathy
Hargis Hoffer, Somerset, KY. Funeral services were held Saturday Aug. 9
at Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, Tipp City. Burial followed in Maple
Hill Cemetery, Tipp City. Contributions may be made to Asbury Towers
Nurses Education Fund, 102 West Poplar Street, Greencastle, IN 46135 in
Dick's memory.
