COMER, IONA K. (NEE: HISSONG) - Iona K. Comer, age 78 of Brookville, passed away Monday, Aug. 11, at Harborside of New Lebanon. She was born Feb. 24, 1930, to Howard and Eva Hissong. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Sharon Jay, Charles Kenneth, Pauline & T. J. Hopper, William Lawson, Rodney & Elizabeth Hissong, and grandson Billy Comer. She is survived by her loving husband of over 60 years James Comer, Brookville; sons & daughters-in-law Howard & Shirley, Brookville, Timothy & Diana, Brookville, and Michael, Brookville; daughter and son-in-law Wanda & Robert Shannon, Brookville; sisters Joy Lee Mayes and Carol Ann & Carl Massie; sister-in-law Pearl Hissong; seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 15, at Hale-Sarver Funeral Home in West Milton. Pastor Andy Leighty officiated with interment following at Abbotsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial contributions be made to the Iona Comer Memorial Fund.
