FOX, HELEN B. - age 77, of Dayton, passed away Sunday, May 8, 1994 at her residence. She was a graduate from Spring Creek Township School, Piqua Central High School and the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing & Health in 1938. An active member of the University of Cincinnati, Alumni Association for the College of Nursing & Health, since its inception in 1946, she served as president from May 1952 thru 1955, as treasurer for the last two & one-half years and was active in many committee functions throughout that time. Helen taught Nursing Arts & Medical/Surgical Nursing in the Miami Valley School of Nursing, and retired in 1949. She was an active Miami Valley Hospital Volunteer since April 1976 working in the mail room & at the surgery waiting desk. Some of her special projects at MVH included Inventory at the Metropolitan Dept. Store, working with the Mobile Health Unit, and helped organize "Christmas in the Valley". She was a Volunteer Board Member from 1980-82 & 1988-91, Chairman of the Durnell Scholarship Committee, member of the Gala Committee "A Bustling Affair" and chairperson for the "All Aboard" & "Changri-La" galas. A member of the MVH Volunteers "Key Club", which honors those who have donated more than 3000 hours of service to the hospital, the Montgomery County Medical Society Auxiliary (now Alliance) from 1950-1994 and served as president from 1976-77, the Ohio State Medical Association Alliance, where she served as Board of Directors from 1973-1994 and as District Director, Membership Director, Membership Chairperson, Vice President, Parliamentarian, and on the Health Manpower Committee, Headquarters Committee and the By-Laws Committee. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. Ernest Lewis Fox, Jr. and 3 brothers, Charles Bodey, Robert Bodey & Ronald Bodey. She is survived by 1 daughter, Roberta Fox Hutchins & her husband, Ronald L. of Dayton; 2 sons, Thomas Michael & his wife, DiAnne of Phoenix, AZ and Timothy Lewis & his friend, Jennifer Ellis of Lebanon, OH; 2 granddaughters, Kimberly Ann Fox of Floral City FL and Tara Fox of Phoenix, AZ; 2 brothers James Bodey of Fletcher, OH and Wallace Bodey of Minster, OH; 1 sister, William Bodey Kemper of Dayton, OH; and many nieces & nephews. A HELEN BODEY FOX NURSING SCHOLAR AWARD has been set up and one Wright State University Student will be selected annually as the recipient. Services will be held 11:30 A.M. Thursday at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, Pastor John Harris officiating. Burial David's Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
