Tipp City Herald - Veteran - Pilot in U.S. Army Air Corps Enlisted Service

HAWN, RALPH J. - Ralph J. Hawn, 86, father of Tipp man - Services for Ralph J. Hawn, 86, of Pleasant Hill, father of John Mack Hawn of Tipp City, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Jackson Funeral Home by the Rev. Donald Kanet.  Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Mr. Hawn, who retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as an engineer in 1967, died April 18 in Villa Convalescent Center.  He retired from farming in 1983 and was a former deputy sheriff and a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps Enlisted Service.  He attended Case University and the University of Michigan. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, Antioch Temple of Dayton, Pleasant Hill Masonic Lodge 361, where he was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the Miami County Shrine Club, Troy Eagles Lodge 971, Troy Fish & Game Club and Elks Lodge 833.  The son in Tipp City is his only survivor.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Naomi Rector Hawn in 1988, and a brother.
